Holiday Macrame

Macrame has been around for ages with a history dating back thousands of years and is seeing a bump in popularity every few generations. Most recently the craft reached peak popularity in Victorian England, then again in the 1970s and today it is again a hot, trendy art form. Using simple materials, macrame can be as simple or complex as the artist would like. There are numerous knots used in macrame, but with even just a few basic ones you’ll be able to get started on your first project.

In this introductory class we will make 3 holiday ornaments. 9 samples will be presented, 3 each for: ornament balls, snowflakes and mini wall hangings. Students will choose which design to make from each group. All the materials needed for this workshop will be provided and students will be able to complete 3 different pieces. At the end of the class all students will be emailed a PDF with instructions on how to make all 9 designs, so they can make more at home.
