Kick Off- Friday, October 4th 6 to 8 p.m.
at the Louisville Library Lobby presented by the Louisville Arts District

Kick Off Details:
Friday, Oct. 4th is also First Fiber Friday at the Louisville Library. FingerPlay Studio and friends have been invited to knit in the Library lobby to demonstrate this joyous craft. What a coincidence that this is also the release date for Stephen's MKAL clue #1. Please joins us for a fun evening of knitting, fiber arts, food and music.

Mystery Knit Along SIGN UPS ARE LIVE on Ravelry! To receive the clues you must go the MKAL Ravelry Page.

This year is going to be a beautifully bold and graphic shawl to celebrate ten years of Westknits mystery shawls.

SCHEDULE

Clue 1 - Friday, October 4
Clue 2 - Friday, October 11
Clue 3 - Friday, October 18
Clue 4 - Friday, October 25

When you purchase the pattern, you will receive an introductory PDF to prepare for the Mystery KAL. The first instructions for the pattern will be sent as a Ravelry update Friday, October 4. Then, you will receive a section of the mystery shawl pattern each week until the final design is revealed on October 25.

PROJECT DETAILS
Sizes: The overall shape and dimensions are part of the mystery! Starflake wil be a large shawl, but not as big as last year’s Texture Time shawl.

Yarn: Fingering weight

Yardage: MC (main color) - 2 skeins of wool (399yds / 365m)
CC (contrast color) - 2 skeins of wool (399yds / 365m)

Needles: US 5 / 3.75mm circular in 40” / 100cm length or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 22 sts & 48 rows = 4” / 10cm in garter stitch (un-blocked). Try to get close to the recommended stitch gauge to ensure you don’t run out of yarn.

Garter Stitch Swatch
If you would like to see how your colors interact, I recommend striping the colors together like this…

Knit 2 rows with MC.
Knit 2 rows with CC.

Repeat two-row stripes until you get a good sense of your gauge and color interaction.

CHOOSING YARN
Stephen recommends choosing two colors that have a high contrast to see the crisp lines and details of the shawl.  Use solid, semi-solid, or lightly speckled yarns. Avoid heavily speckled or variegated yarns for this design as they may obscure the design details.

RULES & INFO
Clues will automatically be sent to you as a pattern update in your Ravelry inbox each Friday starting October 4.
