BankHead Hat (3 classes)



A classic ribbed hat knit in the round on circular needles that is a great next step class for beginners. 

This class is perfect if you are comfortable with the knit stitch and are ready to expand your skills. You will master your cast-on, knit and purl skills. You'll also gain experience in understanding patterns, working with double pointed needles and making decreases. 

Materials

Yarn: 
200 yards worsted weight yarn for the adult large size.  (consult the pattern for yarn requirements for other sizes). We recommend Woolstok, UltraWool, Malabrigo Rios or Vintage

Needles & Notions
US 7 circular needle - 16” length (wood can be great for beginners)

US 7 double pointed needle set (wood is best for these)

Stitch marker

Darning needle

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: This is a great second or third project for new knitters. Must be proficient at knit and purl to be able to learn new techniques (such as knitting through the back loop).

We aim to keep classes affordable. Our instructors often devote additional time outside of class time to develop curriculum and offer support. Instructor: Sharon Schatz
Instructor Bio: Sharon taught herself to crochet and sew while living near the Vogue Fabrics store in Illinois. Knitting came later when she connected with a church group making prayer shawls. Sharon was an artist-in-residence for the Healing Arts Program, at Presbyterian St. Luke?s Hospital in Denver where she taught basic hat knitting and 2D wet felting to moms with high risk pregnancies. Sharon is also a registered Landscape Architect who enjoys adventures with her family, including cliff jumping.
