Sweet Spring Fling KAL

Join our Sweet Spring Fling Knit-Along, a delightful knitting adventure inspired by decadent layered desserts! In this KAL, we’ll be working on two scrumptious sweater patterns, each named after a delightful Malaysian treat, featuring rich textures, cozy layers, and mouthwatering color combinations.

Manis as a happy, fluffy topping to sweeten your outfit and feel its comfort giving your shoulders a light, soft hug. Knitted in the round from the bottom with a wavy hemline created by a nostalgic chevron lace pattern in fingering weight yarn, the rest of the pullover is understated and knitted with a single strand of lace weight silk-mohair yarn with a needle that goes up in sizes towards the shoulders. The result is a wonderful gradation of translucency and airiness in the fabric. The number of stitches to work also decreases towards the top, making the end of knitting come sooner than you know, which is great if you can’t wait to try on your pullover. But before you do, you will join the shoulders with no-sew Russian grafting using just a crochet hook. 

Lapis is knit from the bottom with provisional cast-on, the chevron lace and Stockinette stitch patterns are worked in the round to the underarm. Front and back are worked flat separately before being joined at the shoulders with Russian grafting. Simple garter stitch edgings complete the armholes and neck opening. Stitches are picked up from the provisional cast-on to work the hem in short row shaping that accentuates the zig-zag shape of the chevron lace pattern.

Whether you choose to knit one or both, you’ll enjoy a fun and supportive community of fellow knitters, sharing progress, tips, and a love for both fiber and food. Expect a mix of color and lace that mimic the layers and textures of these delectable desserts.
